  • Talk budget and decide who will be contributing to the event
  • Get engagement ring insured and consider purchasing wedding insurance
  • Start looking for your wedding pros, photographer, videographer, caterer, florist, musicians, and baker for the cake
  • Browse wedding dress and veil styles
  • Select your favorite design for a save the date mailer
  • Have a three-ring binder with all confirmations in it or create a computer program to save all your information for the Wedding Day

10 Months In Advance

  • Mail your Save the Dates
  • Reserve ceremony and reception venues
  • Finalize the guest list and addresses
  • Purchase wedding dress, veil, and undergarments
  • Start thinking about a honeymoon destination

8 Months In Advance

  • Choose bridesmaids attire
  • Select a hotel for out of town guest
  • Choose all stationery, wedding invitation, thank you notes, programs, menu cards, wedding party itinerary, etc.
  • Create gift registries

6 Months In Advance

  • Explore hair and makeup styles
  • Decide on groomsmen attire
  • Schedule a tasting with the caterer and choose a menu
  • Hire musicians
  • Book transportation to and from venues
  • Purchase wedding rings
  • Book a date for the bachelor and bachelorette party weekend
  • Meet with officiant to discuss the ceremony

4 months In Advance

  • Choose flowers for the wedding party, attendants, family, venues, cake, etc.
  • Book room for the wedding night
  • Plan welcome baskets for out of town guests.
  • Prepare the do play and do not playlists for the DJ or band
  • Book the rehearsal dinner venue
  • Assemble rehearsal dinner guest list (include attendants and significant other, out of town guests, officiant, and family members)
  • Order rehearsal dinner invitations
  • Hire rehearsal dinner musician

3 Months In Advance

  • Plan ceremony and reception seating
  • Make an appointment with the hairdresser and take the bridal veil to finalize your hairstyle
  • Select the readers, the readings, the music and the singers for the ceremony
  • Purchase toasting flutes, serving pieces, guestbook, flower basket, and ring bearer pillow
  • Mail wedding invitations

2 Months In Advance

  • Develop a plan for the RSVP’s
  • Create the ceremony wedding program
  • Apply for a marriage license
  • Finalize seating arrangements for the reception
  • Finalize fitting for the wedding party and parents attire
  • Create the wedding day itinerary and send to vendors, officiant, wedding party, out of town guest and family
  • Decide upon “something old, new, borrowed and blue”
  • Book the spa and beauty treatment for you and your bridal party for a nail salon and the beautician and make up person for the day of the wedding hair and makeup
  • Purchase gifts for attendants
  • Book wedding day transportation for the bridal party

1 Month In Advance

  • Call all vendors to confirm the date, times, and locations
  • Confirm honeymoon reservations
  • Shop for a few new things for your honeymoon and start packing
  • Pick up wedding rings
  • Confirm final plans with the officiant
  • Write Thank You notes as gifts arrive
  • Make lists for the photographer… List the group shots you want. Provide a face sheet of family and attendants names. That way they will know who the important people are and make sure that they get photographed

2 Weeks In Advance

  • Follow up with guests who have not RSVP’d
  • Give a final count to the caterer
  • Update registries
  • Start wearing your wedding shoes in the evening at home
  • Get final haircut and color
  • Delegate wedding day duties, gift table, guestbook, photo booth if you have one, etc.
  • Delegate someone to return tuxedos and to tend to your wedding dress
  • Send directions to wedding day transportation driver

1 Week In Advance

  • Make out all the checks for the vendors and have cash in envelopes for tips of service personnel
  • Type up the readings and give to the readers
  • Layout wedding clothes
  • Prepare a little emergency kit to carry along that day
  • Have fingernails and toenails done for the bridesmaids and bring champagne along to have a wedding party toast at the salon

The Day Before

  • Deliver welcome basket to the hotel for all out of town guests
  • Attend wedding rehearsal
  • Go to bed at a decent hour

Wedding Day

  • Eat a good breakfast
  • The wedding party will arrive by noon to have hair and makeup done and get dressed for the wedding
  • The groom will host the best man and attendant at his home
  • Have lunch catered for everyone
  • Mid-afternoon the men will arrive for the First Look Photo and the whole wedding party will go for wedding photos
  • Give the best man the officiant fee and the wedding rings
  • Arrive on time at the venue
  • Relax, smile, and have an incredible day
